Rick McCollum

Rick McCollum grew up in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the capital of the Cherokee nation. "I was completely surrounded by the old west. My dad and uncles were stockmen; my friends were Native Americans, world champion cowboys, cowgirls, and just plain 'ole country folk.'" As a child, he dreamed of painting as the great Remington, Russell, Leigh, and Moran had done.

Rick graduated with honors from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and worked in the illustration field for over 25 years receiving over 100 awards of excellence and merit.

He turned to his childhood dream of painting and never looked back. In 2001, he received the Russell Auction Ralph "Tuffy" Berg award for the best new artist. In 2002, Rick won the Best In Show award at the Old West Museum, Western Spirit Art Show.
